Seasonal Nodes and a special Watsu® offering

When we sit in stillness with nature’s patterns and cycles, we develop a deeper understanding of our own health and how to stay well balanced. In Chinese Medicine, each season has its corresponding influences and associations. They are known as The Seasonal Nodes. If we learn to deeply attune to these nodes, we can instill a level of health that brings much peace and compassion. For instance, in Chinese Medicine “over-thinking” belongs to one of the seven emotions.

Western medicine is just beginning to look at the possibilities of emotions and how they effect our health.

Over thinking disturbs the heart and spleen. It causes the heart to pump faster, which in turn disturbs the spleen and stomach to respond with quick movements. This quickened response fills the system and eventually effects the kidneys. Some of the oldest teachings about kidneys are related to the season of Winter, which we are about to enter. Winter is ruled by the element of Water and here are the basic associations for this Season.

  • Element - Water

  • Yin Organ - Kidneys

  • Yang Organ - Urinary Bladder

  • Emotion - Fear

  • Spirit - Willpower

  • Climate - Cold

  • Color - Black/dark Blue

  • Taste: Salty

  • Sense Organs - Ears

  • Tissues - Bone

  • Virtues - Strength, Courage, Wisdom
