Canine Warm Water Therapy
The farm has offered water therapy for dogs since 2010. Our pool is heated year round and the water is cleaned via oxygen and light. Initially most of our clients came for orthopedic rehab, ACL repair, neurological concerns, and mobility challenges that come with aging. Although we still see dogs for these reasons, the scope of our work has expanded and adapted to the current needs of dogs and their families. The type of “work” dogs currently provide in the family system is mostly emotional work, yet their bodies are designed for exploring natural outdoor terrain, playing to release and balance their energy fields and simply being in contact with the earth. Thus, the warm water provides an outlet for anxiety, behavioral imbalances, weight loss, detoxification, enrichment, coping with loss, developing confidence, release of tensions, and letting go of what they’ve taken on to support us on our path. Older dogs especially love to soak, float, gently swim if able, and return to a sense of being whole. We know the effect stress has on our health. It is the same for our dogs.
All swim sessions are private and are about an hour once you arrive and check in. They include either on or off leash hikes. We provide towels and treats and prefer to speak with you prior to your initial session to learn about your dog and what will best serve their needs.
Our assisted swims are $85. We are in the water with your dog for the entire session providing whatever level of care and assistance is needed.
Our self swims are $65. These swims are for dogs who are fully capable of entering the pool on their own and enjoy the company of their people in the pool, or for dogs that have started with fully assisted swims and are now able to swim on their own with minimal support and guidance from their family. We teach many of our clients how to swim their dogs based on the individual needs be it emotional, orthopedic, or the gentle stages of aging.
